Edward Wang

Oboe/Cor Anglais

Edward Wang is a Sydney-based oboist originally from Melbourne. Edward started learning the oboe with Anne Gilby from the age 10, then he studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Ngaire de Korte, Shefali Pryor and Alexandre Oguey. Edward joined the Australian Youth Orchestra on their 16th International Europe and China tour, and in 2017 he performed as the principal oboist of the orchestra. From 2018, Edward spent two years studying with Jeff Crellin at the Australian National Academy of Music. During this time, he performed in projects involving Victorian Opera, Auckland Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic Wind Quintet and Voces8. Edward was also a finalist in the 2019 ANAM Chamber Music Competition and a prize-winner in the 2019 Melbourne Recital Centre Great Romantics Competition. Since 2019, Edward has been working with the NSW Police Band where he performs a diverse repertoire ranging from classical music, parade music to commercial jazz in ensembles such as concert band, marching band, wind quintet and reed quintet.
